Visiting Caitlyn!

Our good friend Caitlyn broke her leg last week while jumping on the trampoline. She was in the hospital for a day and a half before she came home and has been on bed rest for a few days. She can't use her loft bed anymore, so she has been staying in the guest bedroom at her house. Me and Nicki decided we should visit her one day after school. Caroline couldn't make it because she had yet another driving lesson.

Nicki and I stopped at our local CVS to purchase a beanie baby gift for her (we got the unicorn because it was purple, Caitlyn's favorite color) and picked her up some of her favorite frozen yogurt as well.

Once we got there, Caitlyn immediately greeted us. She was watching her favorite show on TV. We did find out that she had PINK crutches! She says her doctor's office had them. She wanted them in purple, but they were all out of that. Then we got to sign her cast. There were a few signatures we didn't recognize, like one from someone named Thalia Summers. Caitlyn said she was looking to move to Hillrise and that she loved the fifties. From the sounds of it, Thalia is looking forward to living in Hillrise! I mean, who wouldn't anyways? It's Hillrise!!

Nicki got some time to talk to Caitlyn, too. At one time, Nicki and Caitlyn were very close. They still are, but Nicki has been busy with her own things. She gave Caitlyn some advice on high school and everything. She was very upset that she didn't get invited to any after parties during the vice versa dance, but Nicki re-assured her that you don't have to be invited to anything for every dance. We weren't invited on anything last year.

I got some time with Caitlyn as well. She was exhausted because she has had a hard time sleeping on her new cast. She told me her family is helping her recover, though. Did you know her mom bought her a 5-pound gummy bear plus a rare picture of Hillrise as a get-well present? It really is awesome having Julie Albright as your mom. Honestly, her mom has taught me everything I need to know about Hillrise. She even said that the original kitchens were color-harmonized! Hers back in the sixties was avocado-green. I saw a picture of it and I seriously want the same color kitchen appliances for my future Hillrise Home. Her mom is so awesome when it comes to Hillrise! She took me around and taught me all about it when I was a kid. It is honestly so cool!
Before we left, we ate some of her gummy bear, talked about happenings around school and Hillrise, and then we took funny pictures on her laptop.
Get well soon, Caitlyn!

Meet our friend Caitlyn!

You may remember Caroline talking about her friend Caitlyn in our Christmas blog post. Well, we'd like you to please meet her!

If you don't know already, Caitlyn is the daughter of the original Hillrise Girl Julie Albright. Of course, they still live in Hillrise after all of this time! Their house is the exact same floor plan as Caroline's, only it is backwards. She has the coolest loft bed! One time when I came over, Caitlyn had draped sheets to cover the bottom part and that was her 'fort'. It was so cool! But here's some more about Caitlyn:

  • She is 14 years old.
  • She adores Hillrise, just like her mom.
  • Her favorite thing to do is act crazy with her best friend Lindsay.
  • She loves shopping at Hillrise garage sales, and most of her clothes are either from them or were her mom's favorites from when she was our age.
  • She is very outgoing and loves to be around people.
  • She has 1 dog (Tobie) and 1 bunny (Saffron, who happens to be in the same family as her mom's rabbit Nugget)
  • She is very flexible, but she doesn't like gymnastics/cheer at all.
  • Her favorite food is saltwater taffy.
  • She has 2 older siblings, Charlie (age 20) and Lauren (age 27)
You'll definitely hear more of Caitlyn in our blog, so be on the lookout for her!

BIG NEWS!!

Hi, it's Callie saying we have some VERY exciting news!! As you all know, we are all 15 years old and in the tenth grade. However, we have all turned 15 1/2 this month, and you all know what comes with that! Yep, we are officially permitted to drive the streets of California! After taking driver's ed courses online, we have worked very hard to get to this point. I actually got mine last month, but didn't tell anyone because I wanted to wait for Caroline and Nicki. I know, you must have so many burning questions for us, like what kind of car we got. Well I'll answer that right now-the only one who has a car right now is Caroline, who got her dream car-a 1955 Chevy Bel Air. It's turquoise and white in color and Caroline has already driven it around places. I want a fifties car too, since I love that decade, but my parents say I have to have one with airbags. So right now I don't care what kind of car I get, just as long as it's safe. Nicki may be inheriting her parents' white 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. (That's what I was told, anyway.) We are very excited and can't wait for when we get our licenses!

Merry Christmas!!

Hi, this is Caroline again! Sorry we weren't here on Christmas, but we did have a good one! I stayed at home with my family in Hillrise, and that was always a good time. Nicki and Callie were out of town, so I invited my friends Allison and Caitlyn over on Christmas Eve and we had a grand old time hanging out in the fields behind Allison's Hillrise home, making/eating a gingerbread house, and taking a hike up Strawberry Hill (a hiking trail near Hillrise). Then we went to Caitlyn's and looked through her mom (who happens to be the original Hillrise Girl Julie Albright)'s collection of Hillrise photos, and Caitlyn taught me and Allison how to fish tail braid. Then we slept over at Caitlyn's, where we made a 'fort' under Caitlyn's loft bed and told scary stories. In the morning, we woke up and saw that Santa had not only brought gifts for Caitlyn and her family, but for us as well! Then me and Allison went back to my house and had a mini photoshoot by my Christmas tree. It was a fun and joyful day! Best of all, it was spent with Hillrise! But before I go, I would like you to meet my friend Allison Rogers!

If you want to know more about Allison, here's what I know about her: She is 15 years old and has lived in Hillrise since 2010. She originally lived in another neighborhood close to our school, but moved to Hillrise because her family needed a bigger house. She loves it to pieces now, just like me, Nicki and Callie. She loves dogs and has three of her own (plus a litter of puppies!) She also likes to dress in crop tops and skinny jeans, because she likes thinking it's summer. (i don't care for crop tops, honestly, but they look amazing on her!) She has two twin siblings, named Cassie and Matt. They are 8 years old. Her favorite thing to do is to bake-she is an amazing cook! She is shy when you first meet her, but once you get to know her she is a crazy, fun-loving person.

Merry Christmas and you will definitely see more of Allison as time goes on!
